Life Update!

We are moving from Alaska to Texas and the movers come tomorrow morning!  All of my makeup is packed away and we won't be settled into our new home in Texas until mid June.  I won't be able to post anything to my blog until then.  I will be hitting up a few CCO's on our big road trip, so hopefully I'll find a few goodies along the way!  You all take care and I will talk to you in June!  xoxo Heather

New L'Oreal Nail Polish in Gorgeous Gold #168

I found this polish in the same end display as the L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour eyeshadow that I just swatched here.  There were four limited edition polishes, but this was calling my name!  It is so beautiful and I love how it has a texture to it.  The formula was opaque in two coats and it actually dried very quickly.  Enjoy the swatch!!

New L'Oreal Infallible 24 hour eyeshadow swatches!

L'Oreal has a few new Infallible 24 hour eyeshadows that I found on an end display.  I love these eyeshadows, so I couldn't pass them up.  Gleaming Bronze is a must have in my opinion.  It reminds me of MAC Old Gold Pigment!  Enjoy the swatches!

Maybelline Color Show Nail Polish Swatches! (Styled Out & Orange Rx)

I found these on an end display at Walmart and figured I'd give them a try.  They were only $3 each, but they are smaller bottles with only 0.23oz.  I love the color Styled out.  It really looks like denim on the nails!  The formula on both of these were great, but styled out was slightly better and opaque in 1 coat!  Enjoy the swatches!

Essence Stay All Day Long Lasting Eyeshadow (swatches)

These are probably the longest lasting eyeshadows I have ever used.  They stay on like they are superglued on! No joke!  They are creamy to apply, but they dry fast and once they are dry, they aren't budging!  Crazy!!  They were $3 and are 0.19oz jars with screw on lids.  Enjoy the swatches!

Guerlain Meteorites by Emilio Pucci (swatch/review)

I had always been curious to try the Guerlain Metorities, but always talked myself out of it because of the hefty $59 price tag.  I had a gift card and honestly had no clue what to buy, so I started reading the reviews on Sephora for the Meteorites and decided it was time to see what was so great about these!   Turns out, I LOVE IT!!  I have combination skin (mild dryness on cheeks and break outs happen mostly on my chin).  I almost didn't do this review because I don't even know how to explain what the Meteorites do for my skin.  It's not sparkly AT ALL.  There are some sparkles in it, but they disappear on the skin.   I do my full makeup routine and then I use the Guerlain Meteorite brush and apply this all over my face.  It just makes your skin look like someone else's skin.  Does that even make sense?  I actually stood in the bathroom looking at my face up close after applying this because my skin looked so awesome, but I wasn't sure how it happened.  I couldn't see the Meteorites on my skin, it was almost like the changed happened from the inside out.  I guess the point I want to make is that if you have been on the fence about these, give them a try.  I really think the blue pearls in this Emilio Pucci Edition is what evens out the skintone so well.  Here is what the Sephore website says:

What it is:
An illuminating powder that delivers pure radiance.

What it does:
These must-have multi-colored little pearls are adopting their new summer wardrobe encased in Pucci-adorned packaging. Météorites Perles D’azur is also enriched with a corrective blue pearl to create a flawless complexion. Formulated like the classic Météorites Perles, the Perles d’Azur beautifully adapts to the demands of the sun by combining six colors that even out and correct every skintone.

NOTD: Deborah Lippman Sugar Daddy (swatch!)

Let me start off by saying that I really hate this nail polish on me.  It gives me lobster hands, it accentuates my nail imperfections (even after applying Butter London Nail Foundation) and the color is just not all that to me.  It is like Chanel Peridot gone wrong.  In the bottle it is gorgeous and I've seen other swatches that are very pretty as well.  The formula was decent.  You can see some brush strokes, but not as bad as some other chrome polishes I've tried.  I just really do not like this at all on me.  Such a bummer as I was super excited to try it.  If you try it, I hope you have better luck with it!  Enjoy the swatch!

OPI Pirouette My Whistle layering combo (swatch)

I'm going to make this short and sweet.....EVERYONE needs this top coat!  It's amazing!  It is from the new OPI Ballet Collection. Enjoy the swatch!

OPI Pirouette My Whistle layered over Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather

NOTD: Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather (Swatch)

I am not keen on spending $18 on a nail polish, but I will say that Deborah Lippmann polishes are worth it.  They are the ONLY nail polish that lasts more than 4 days on me without a single chip (and without a top coat).  Every other nail polish brand chips on me within 48 hours or less, even with numerous top coats.  I think it is probably my nails, but Deborah Lippmann polishes just seem to last so much longer on me and I love it!  I love the gray nail polishes whether they are a light, medium or dark gray!  I always seem to get the most compliments when wearing gray polishes as well.  Stormy weather was opaque in one coat!  I added another coat after I took this picture because I could see a few small patches.   This is a great alternative for black polish as well!  Enjoy the swatch!

New essence colour 3 nail polish duos! (swatches!)

YES, more essence!!!  I just can't help myself!  Everything I've tried so far, I have loved and I couldn't pass these new nail polish duos for $2!  At first I thought it was a crackle polish duo, but it's not!  They are duos that you can either wear alone or layered to "create your own shade".  I was really surprised at how pretty these were combined.  The duo in number 01 Midnight Date reminds me of Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe.  I own Across the Universe, but sadly it is packed away due to us moving in 2 weeks.  I hope you enjoy the swatches!

Rescue Beauty Lounge IKB: 2012 vs. Revlon Royal #730 (swatch/comparison)

Rescue Beauty Lounge recently released their fan inspired collection which included 4 new limited edition (and very limited supply) polishes.  I was super excited about the color IKB: 2012 because it was described as a SUPER electric blue.  I can never pass up an electric blue polish, so I had to try this.  My favorite electric blue polish is Revlon's Top Speed polish in the shade Royal.  Royal is so bright blue it's almost neon.  I was hoping that IKB: 2012 would be even brighter, but sadly it's not.  Honestly, I am bummed I paid $20 for it.  I will grab Revlon's Royal 10 out of 10 times over it because it is brighter.  IKB: 2012 is a touch more purple as well compared to Revlon Royal.  IKB: 2012 is sold out, so if you missed it and are  bummed, grab Revlon Royal.  It is a permanent color!  Enjoy the swatches!

NARS Amchoor vs Color Club Almost Famous (swatch/comparison)

I was super excited for the new NARS Thakoon Collection to be to released!  The bright yellow shade called Amchoor stood out the most to me.  After going through my collection, I realized it is similar to Color Club's Almost Famous.  I actually prefer Almost Famous on my skin tone.  I would say that Amchoor is more of a sunflower yellow, while Almost Famous is more of a sunshine yellow.  They are both very bright and beautiful!  If you are on the fence, Color Club polishes are only a few dollars!  Enjoy the swatch!

MAC Modern Mandarin Blush & Drugstore Alternative! (swatch/comparison)

Essence has a limited edition display out that includes an eyeshadow palette, nail polish, 2 lipsticks, some eye pencils and a blush for $2.49.  The collection is called Legends of the Sky.  I wasn't impressed by anything other than the blush!  The actual name of the blush is "Better way to Sky" and it is described as an apricot.   When swatched side by side, Modern Mandarin looks a bit more red toned.  I find Better way to Sky a bit more wearable on my skin.   Both blushes have the same satin sheen/finish, which I love.  They are both very creamy and pigmented, although Modern Mandarin stained my hand more than the Essence blush did.   Enjoy the swatches!

Perfume Fail: Diane Von Furstenberg!

I received a sample of this perfume from Sephora and I'm actually choking right now trying to write this review.  My husband is gagging and my son won't come near me since I sprayed this on.  All I can say is that it smells like three things......1) cheap bathroom spray 2) Grandma 3) Toilet paper.  Wow.  I need to go shower this off.

Notes:Frangipani, Violet, Patchouli, Musks, Myrrh.

NOTD: Cult Nails Captivated (swatch)

There is nothing I love more than a glitter polish that has a fairly opaque base!  Captivated was opaque in two coats and it just screams Summer!  This would look even better with a tan!  It does dry slightly gritty, but a top coat will fix that!  Enjoy the swatch!

MAC Pink Popcorn Lipstick (Swatch/Comparison)

Here is the new MAC Pink Popcorn lipstick compared to other pinky/lavender MAC lipsticks that I own!  I find it is most similar to MAC Budding Love from the Chen Man Collection and Bubblegum.  Pink Popcorn and Budding Love both appear more lavender on my lips than it appears in the swatch.  My lips aren't very pigmented.  I hope this is helpful!  Enjoy the swatch!

NOTD: China Glaze Aquadelic (Swatch/comparison)

This color puts me in a good mood!  China Glaze Aquadelic is similar to Sally Hansen Barely Blue Bell.  Indoors, they look very similar, but in the sunlight, Aquadelic is a bit bluer.  You can't go wrong with either one, but I prefer the slightly bluer tones in Aquadelic!  They both go on opaque in 2 coats, however, Barely Blue Bell was slightly streaky on the first coat.  Enjoy the swatch!

NEW Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Flash Swatches! (Rose Croisette & Orange Pareo)

I have become a huge fan of the Dior Addict Ultra Glosses in the past year.  I used to love MAC Dazzleglasses, but after trying the Dior Addict glosses, I don't think I will ever look back.  These have a beautiful sparkle and have great staying power for a gloss without being sticky.  The formula is actually very smooth and silky and not gritty whatsoever.  My favorite of the two shades is the Orange Pareo!  It looks quite orange on my hand, but on my lips it is the perfect sparkling peach!  I love it so much.  I will probably use this up so fast this summer!  These glosses contain 0.21oz of product for $29 compared to the MAC Dazzleglass which is 0.06oz for $19.50.  You get so much more product in the Dior gloss!  Enjoy the swatches!!

MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow Swatches!

When the MAC Extra Dimension collection released, I told myself I would only buy one of the eyeshadows and see if it was special or not.  I wanted to try one because the formula is new and they claimed to be super creamy and pigmented....AND THEY ARE!  As you can see, I ended up going back to get four more!  These are my favorite MAC eyeshadows that I've tried yet!  They are all absolutely gorgeous and all very wearable colors!  I am honestly not a huge MAC eyeshadow fan unless it's the veluxe pearl formula, but these are amazing!!  I have been wearing them everyday this week!  Enjoy the swatches!

NOTD: Cult Nails Scandalous (Swatch!)

I recently purchased the new Divas and Drama Collection from Cult Nails and the color Scandalous was the one I was most excited about trying!  It is a sheer jelly polish that was designed to look similar to a creamsicle.  It is sort of pastel and sort of bright at the same time!  It is really beautiful and unique!  I love polishes with a jelly finish!  I used 3 coats in the swatch below!  Enjoy the swatch!

Essence Sun Club "All Over Shimmer" for eyes, face & body (blondes & brunettes swatches!)

I picked up these two Essence Sun Club all over shimmer palettes for $4 each and bought them for the sole purpose of using them as an eyeshadow.  I am not a fan of shimmer bronzers on my skin, but these looked right up my alley for eyeshadows!  I am once again impressed with Essence!  The formula on these are super creamy and pigmented.  I barely touched the product to do those swatches!   If you're in the market for an inexpensive neutral eyeshadow palette, I would check these out!  You can't go wrong with either one!  Enjoy the swatches!
